Wales faces significant risks, with over 3,000 assaults on emergency workers between 2023 and 2024, 18% of which involved healthcare staff.
Recognising early signs of confrontation and understanding current risks are essential to managing violence and aggression effectively. This course is designed for healthcare staff who may face verbal or physical abuse from patients, visitors, or colleagues, focusing on prevention. It covers legal responsibilities, causes and types of violence and aggression, and cultural and gender considerations.
Staff will also learn about organisational policies, support mechanisms, reporting procedures, de-escalation techniques, and how to safely disengage from physical assaults.
